Great John Street Hotel, Manchester

The first time I ever visited GJS was back in 2011 when my cousin married here, I was in awe of the decadance and immediately in love. The wedding was amazing and when I sat out on the rooftop terrace sipping my pimms as the sun warmed my back, I realised just how lucky we are to have such a beautiful venue in the heart of out city.

It was Christmas Day 2014 when I opened up my last present to see 2 tickets for The Lion King at the Palace Theatre.. A tear crept silently down my cheek. I’ve dreamed of seeing this show for years.

And afterwards we’re staying at Great John Street

I couldn’t wait.

The staff were gracious and couldn’t do enough for us as we checked in and were shown to our ‘room’. I say ‘room’ because it was the size of an average studio apartment in the same city that it sits in. A super king bed barely took any space in the room that was home to a separate lounge area complete with sofa, a 2 person roll top bath and dressing area which lead to the staircase up to the bathroom.

As an added extra we had the Gluttony Package too. This included Champagne on ice on arrival, homemade sweet treats & a luxurious pamper and massage package on our rose covered bed.

What more could you ask for really? This has got to be the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. That’s saying something.

The next morning we reluctantly checked out after having breakfast on the hotel mezzanine, I opted for eggs benedict, while Naomi tested their full English.

Pulling my suitcase along their warm corridors and down to the lobby I said my goodbyes. Thank you Great John Street for such a wonderful experience, and thank you Naomi for making it happen.  X
